Step 1. Make The Terrain
You can download the terrain file I used for this tutorial here
or you can of course use your own. The Camera and Target are at their default positions but
I have adjusted the heights to get a good 'view' of the terrain.
The image on the right shows how it all looks the default world settings.

Step 2. Add A Surface Map
Just add water...
To add a bit more interest to the scene (and because the reflections look so great
in Terragen scenes) I have raised the water level to -50ft.

|
Step 3. Position The Sun
Currently the Sun doesn't appear in the scene. Lets fix that by setting the
Sun Heading to 10 degrees (i.e. just right of centre) and the Sun Altitude (Elevation) to 4.
Now we're getting somewhere...

Step 4. Adjust The Atmosphere Settings
The step above looks OK but there's too much blue/white for a sunset scene
which should have a nice rich orange and red feel to it.
This is soon fixed by adjusting Atmosphere: Light Decay / Red setting to 50%.

Step 5. The Final Touch
Now, I could have stopped there, it's a nice picture.
However, I really want to see the sun reflected in the water so I
modified the terrain slightly so that this shows up.
